My diverse background has shaped me into a person who is both adaptable and curious. It has fostered a deep desire to explore and continuously expand my intellectual and cultural horizons. Born and raised in the French West Indies, I later embarked on a solo journey to Sydney, where I spent two years immersed in a new environment. During this time, I not only attended a business school but also learned a new language and embraced a completely different culture.
Upon returning to France, I moved to Bordeaux, where I delved into the world of art—an area I had previously been unfamiliar with. It was through a MANAA (preparatory course in applied arts) that I began to realize my potential in creative fields. At that point, I found myself torn between fashion and architecture.
In 2020, during the confinement period, I returned to my childhood home in Martinique, giving me the chance to reflect on my future. This time of introspection led me to enroll in the Master's program at Camondo School, a decision that greatly influenced my growth and sharpened my design perspective. My thesis, titled “How Do You Feel the Future?”, allowed me to explore my emotions, doubts, and aspirations, ultimately broadening my understanding of design.
For our final project, we were encouraged to showcase our deepest interests as designers. This challenge, reflecting my eclectic nature, prompted me to focus on Martinique, the island that has always inspired me due to its rich culture, history, and the blending of diverse peoples. I chose to reimagine the "case créole" (traditional creole house), a symbol of Caribbean heritage, as a utopian and imaginary space for a mythical figure from the island, La Guiablesse. This project captures the essence of Martinique's unique spirit and energy.
